Let’s delve into Zoro’s impressive bloodline and discover if he has a connection to the legendary swordsman, Shimotsuki Ryuma.

Zoro’s Family Tree: A Detailed Explanation

Oda revealed that Zoro’s family hails from Wano, and his lineage is not ordinary. Shimotsuki Furiko, the older sister of Shimotsuki Ushimaru, left Wano 55 years ago on a ship. Three years later, the ship arrived in East Blue, where they defeated bandits terrorizing a village. Ten people from the ship decided to settle in that village.

Shimotsuki Furiko married a swordsman named Roronoa Pinzoro from the village, and they had a son named Roronoa Arashi. Arashi married Terra, the daughter of the defeated bandits, and they had a son named Roronoa Zoro. Unfortunately, Arashi died in battle, and Terra passed away due to illness, leaving Zoro orphaned.

Zoro joined the dojo established by the Shimotsuki family, where he met his cousin, Shimotsuki Kuina, who later died in an accident.

Zoro’s Connection to the Legendary Swordsman, Shimotsuki Ryuma

Zoro’s grandmother, Shimotsuki Furiko, was descended from Shimotsuki Ryuma, the legendary swordsman of Wano. Therefore, Zoro is related to the God of Blade.

Zoro encountered Ryuma in the Thriller Bark arc, where Gekko Moria reanimated him using Brook’s shadow. Fans noticed the similarities between Zoro and Ryuma in appearance and fighting style. Zoro’s connection to this powerful samurai might explain a part of his insane abilities.
